Born on May 19, 1980 in New Orleans, La., Jamaine Morris a/k/a “Da Great Bea$t “ was destined for GREATNESS in the music industry. As a youth he used to write down the lyrics of his favorite songs and perform them back to family and friends. At the early age of 10, Da Bea$t was already touring the local scene with big name local artists such as Pimp Daddy, Da 9ers and his childhood mentor and late cousin Shorty-C. Raised up in the notorious Florida housing development, Mr. Greatness seen and been through things only New Orleanians and U.S. soldiers in Iraq experience. But determined not to become a victim of BLACK STATISTICS, he turned to the ONE thing that ever captured his heart; music. In middle/high school, Jamaine started battling anyone/everyone, dropping numerous underground mixtapes, and even battling LIVE on the Wild Wayne’s daily MC battles called “The 9 o’clock props” on Q93.3 New Orleans. After infamous battles, mad street fame, and the mind/skills of 5 Jay-Z’s, Da Bea$t was alwaysed overlooked when it came to THE CONTRACT SIGNING THING so he chose to embark on what would be his GREATEST challenge ever: ENTREPRENEURSHIP. In 1999 he launched his own imprint O.U.T.T. Cru$hin’ Entertainment and assembled hip-hop’s most elites team of musicians. With artists from Down South such as K.C., HEAT, Da Go-Reallaz (N.O.), Young Bam(Houston), and Young Dolla reppin 4 the East Coast(Harlem) Da O.C. is definitely becoming a household name all over the country. A victim of the deadly Hurricane Katrina, Mr. Morris still didn’t lose focus as a matter of fact his hunger got even more intense. He was featured in the Young Entrepreneur’s segment on a local news broadcast with Houston mayor Bill White, attended numerous small business seminars/programs, read and analyzed almost every {How 2} music industry books and even studying music law to start negotiating his own deals.
